At the Council, one of our goals is to honor those making a difference. And primarily, those not necessarily in the public eye or mainstream media.
This past year there were several awards given out, and one in particular to President Carter. As Founder of the Council, I felt that his lifetime of work ~ not only in government ~ but for all humanity across the planet, warranted our notice ~ even though he has been honored many times over. As a member of the Carter Center, when I received a letter from Mrs. Carter asking for a note or donation to his Center in honor of his 85th birthday in October 2009, we were happy to present the President with our Lifetime Achievement award.
